Reception Staff

Our dedicated and friendly Medical Reception staff will assist you with all aspects of your visit, including booking appointments, consultation costs, Medicare claiming, clinical information, transport links and parking.

Our staff pride themselves on providing the highest level of care to all our patients and visitors.

Orthoptic and Nursing Staff

Our consultants have a team of highly professional trained orthoptists and nurses. An orthoptist is a university qualified health care practitioner trained in eye disorders. They will assess you and perform specialised tests of visual function and acuity using a range of diagnostic equipment.

Some tests prior seeing the doctor may include:

  • Taking a full medical and eye history
  • Checking Visual Acuity
  • Measuring Intra Ocular Pressure (IOP)
  • Instillation of dilating drops
  • Patient education
  • Diagnostic tests such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
  • Assist the doctor with procedures such as intravitreal injections

Orthoptic student placements

Many University of Technology orthoptic students complete placements at The Eye Clinic. During their time with us they are fully supervised as they become familiar with:

  • The consultation process
  • Diagnostic testing
  • Ophthalmic treatments and surgeries
  • Managing patient flows
